The Marchée Jean-Talon is just a few blocks west of the Jean-Talon metro stop, just to the north of downtown Montreal. I found veggies and fruits there as well as a traditional Canadian sweet, pure maple syrup mixed with snow on a popcicle stick. They heat up the syrup, spread it out on top of snow, then stick a popcicle stick in one end and as the syrup cools, roll the show-syrup mixture onto the stick.

All kinds of meats are also to be had at any market (and any restaurant - "resto") in Montreal. I saw duck, veal, deer, and rabbit on almost every menu I saw. And here at the market is where you can get almost any game, including buffalo sausage, deer sausage (which I tasted - yummy), and even deer salami.

I had an amazing crèpe—actually, a galette, the savory version of the sweet thin pancakes—at the well-known crèpe stand in the market. Smoked ham, cheese, baked apples, and maple syrup! It was amazing.
